For your first post to the class blog I'd like to know a bit about your previous experiences with writing. What sorts of things do you like to write? What were some of your favorite writing assignments from past classes? What are your strengths and weaknesses when it comes to writing?

Well really all my life i only wrote one type of papers and those were exspository papers and persuasive so i really think those are my strengths. Its only because i have a little more knowledge in writing those than in another type of writing styles. I have done a argumentative essay assignment in my last semster classes i did one in english about who would make a better govenor and i also did one in biology about animal cruielty and if it is bad to do it(which it is). They were easy to me it took me no time to complete the assignment and really they were just good topics to argue on because everyone thinks animal cruelty is bad and everyone has there own governmental issues but I'm improving my skills on writing. My weaknesses in writing is captilization and punctuation which i probably has made lots of mistakes in this paragraph on those topics but thats basically it. My strengths in writing i would say are making strong sentences when the topic is good and staying on topic and thats about it.

DeleteHonestly I enjoy writing argumentative essays because I am the type of person who likes to look up the facts an explain why thats right or wrong. I not great on being very persuasive though. I can start out well but later on i usually get side tracked and end up not staying with my topic. I like doing debates and then writing an essay on how i feel about that topic an disagreeing with the other side because it is either right or wrong. I know that in some of those topics I am wrong but its usually 50/50 with those types of essays.

DeleteI think that the more experience you get with writing the better you become. Sometimes it does seem like you get side tracked, but when I feel that way I go back and review, sometimes it actually helps my argument.

DeleteLast semester we had to write a few argumentative essays in Mrs.Boss's class. We did a few on college, the NFL, and school lunches. Some of them were hard but I did pretty good on them. I don't think I'm very good at writing and I don't really like writing either. The hardest part to me is the intro and conclusion paragraphs. The middle paragraphs are pretty easy for me.

DeleteHello my name is Ezequiel and i really like writing about exciting things that could make people imagine those types of writing in a real world. In the past i wrote expository writings that i would not consider my self as a writer that did not expose its feelings about that writing. I would disagree with people that writing is not a talent, writing is a subject that you as yourself could express your feelings inside of you. When it comes to weaknesses and strength in writing they are really negative things about me. My strength in writing is giving readers a exciting feeling to look at. The weakness of are subjects that does not pop in my brain to which i am unable to explain and give supported reasons.

DeletePersonally, I enjoy writing science fiction. I also enjoy writing medieval stories, or a combination of both genres as prose, as I am bad at poetry. My previous experiences with poetry have ended with bad rhymes and absolutely terrible executions of good ideas.
ReplyDeleteI really do not exactly, one-hundred percent remember any past writing assignments from previous classes, so I am unable to pick a favorite.
When it comes to my literary strengths, I am phenomenal at character development, worldbuilding, and detail. For example, I give every character a different, complex personality and a different, complex character arc and I have them interact if they can if I think they need to to get a plot going or to further character development.
In regards to literary weaknesses, I am sad to report that it's difficult to come up with ideas and plots I write can be kind of sloppy if it's a major project I am writing and not a three page long practice work. Therefore, my solution is to thoroughly plot out what I'm going to be writing before a black pen connects with notebook paper. This comes up again later usually when I've written something where I don't know where to go and when I finish a major project, as I feel somewhat drained of creativity. My solution for the first is to think of what the characters would do to get out of the situation I've written them into themselves instead of a third party lending them a helping hand, as I despise plot devices. My solution for the second is to throw ideas around my head until I think of something good.
I highly agree With you because i truly have ha terrible experiences with poetry i find that the hardest type of writing but thats my opinion.

ReplyDeleteWriting is very complex. There are a lot of things that confuse me when it comes to writing and how you use the proper grammar and all that type of stuff. However I love writing, it may take me a while to gather all my thoughts but when I'm done I'm very please with what I did. My main weekeness would probably be like knowing when to stop. When I start writing I just never can stop! For the most part I think my writing skills are up to par but could be better.
The type of writing I like to do would be Narrative, or Persuasive Writing. My favorite things to write would probably be short stories or poems. One of the writing assignments I enjoyed most from past classes would be when we were given a prompt and had to write a short story off of it. Another assignment I enjoyed was when we got to make up our own poem. My strengths when it comes to writing would be good vocabulary and sentence structure. My weaknesses when it comes to writing would probably be that if I don't find the topic interesting I can have trouble arguing my point or writing about it.
ReplyDeleteI don't like writing as much as i should. But i do like writing about what i like to do which is play soccer, i like writing about things that are easy to break down into topics to make it easier to write. One for my favorites was writing about what was by favorite place to go in Florida. I really don't know what my weaknesses are maybe getting enough details to support my claim. I would get okay grades on writing but my previous teachers would always say i needed to work on my writing.

DeleteI have taken the class Creative Writing and I enjoyed it. So these past few years I looked forward to writing in English. We wrote about things that we read about, what our hopes and aspirations were and what we would like to accomplish in High School. Sometimes writing is the easiest way to fully express yourself. I prefer to write about things that are important, such as World Peace, the Government, things that the U.S's future depends on. So my goal is to get very good at writing, writing is something that I want to thoroughly advance at.

DeleteI don't really like writing but last semester I had Mrs.Boss and it was easy. The only thing I struggled with was writing an outline in 5 minutes. Also my weakness in writing is punctuation cause I don't really be thinking about commas. My strongest thing in writing would be writing an argumentative essay. It is easy because I know how to use the evidence from the article and its basically my opinion. I need to work on using better vocabulary in my essays because it be good but it can be better.

DeleteIn past classes I wrote persuasive, expository, and narrative. I never really liked writing those types of stories I’d like to write fiction. I like to write persuasive as well so that I can use facts and input them into the story. When it comes to writing my strengths are writing long story’s almost book like, weakness I don’t really like writing non-fiction. I’ve learned to write very well over the past years.

DeleteIn high school I've only had one writing assignment and it was about the people running for governor. When writing one of my strengths is writing argumentative essays. Im good at picking a side and backing up why i believe so with facts. Another strength is using imagery when i write. One of my struggles has always been writing persuasive essays.
ReplyDeleteIn all my past classes i have written persuasive ,expository, narrative and argumentative. I personally enjoy writing argumentative essay more then any other type of essays.In my last semester I had an English class where we used write a lot of argumentative essays in. Those essays we would write were my strongest ones because it is a lot easier to me to prove a person wrong or right and prove my point with facts and statistics . Unlike persuasive I have a hard time . I will start off very well persuading and then end up agreeing with the other side or getting totally off topic, such as an essay we had to write last semester as why we should persuade the county to leave school uniform in when my opinion was opposing school uniform. My strongest is argumentative based on my past experience with writing .I have a better chance getting a good grade on an argumentative essay then I would on any other type of essay.
ReplyDeleteI enjoy writing argumentative essays because i like to argue a lot and prove my point and why its right or wrong. I don't remember a lot about past essays so i don't really have a favorite. I enjoy writing about sports . My struggles with writing are mostly with the intro and conclusion and if were writing in MLA style it would be with the in text citations and works sited.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, I like writing about stuff that i really have to describe like if I'm wearing something then i describe what I'm wearing and be really descriptive and also i like writing about arguments. In the past my favorite top would have to be writing about why we shouldn't have to wear school uniforms. Because, i could make up some really good reasons on why we shouldn't have school uniforms. Thats what i really like writing about not boring government stuff.
