Smoking ban???

Image result for cigarettes smoking debateCigarette smoking has already been restricted in many ways, but is it enough? Some people believe that the health risks associated with smoking cigarettes should lead them to be banned entirely. Others feel that they should be allowed to do whatever they want to their own bodies.

What do you think? Are the current restrictions enough? Should there be restrictions at all? What about e-cigarettes?

Explain your views about the current controversy of whether or not society should completely ban cigarettes.

  2. Cigarette's should not be banned. They are sold to persons 18 years and older for the simple fact that they are old enough to make the decision to smoke cigarettes. The government assures you that cigarettes are not good for you and there is a Surgeon Generals warning label printed on the cigarettes carton. The smokers make the decision to light the cigarette and the government makes the decision to tax them. The government makes a very smart decision by doing that because they make $15,753,355.00 a year in tax revenues from cigarettes alone, and there are several other forms of tobacco being sold.

  5. Yes, society should ban cigarettes entirely. They are a serious health hazard and are very addicting, addiction being VERY hard to get out of. Smoking may also cause serious health problems like throat and/or lung cancer, so why sell them if we're going to get more people put in the hospital? I say no more. We need to ban cigarettes altogether if we want to save lives.

    1. I completely agree with you but the people do know the facts and consequences of smoking. If they banned them they would continue to smoke them behind the backs of the law. If they chose to continue to do what they want then let them get what they paid for. They have the will to stop but they chose not to. Though this is completely my opinion.

    4. I see your point but people have restrictions on where to smoke. If someone really wanted to stop they would just stop smoking little by little every time or they could just get an E-Cigarette.

  6. Cigarettes are very harmful in many ways. If you look on a box of cigarettes its tells you that you are at high risk of getting lung cancer. Also they make it possible to make millions of commercials with the facts and evidence that they could kill you but people continue to smoke them. If that isn't enough for people to see the dangers and risks of smoking then why would banning them help. They chose to continue to smoke. I don't think its a good habit but banning them would make people smoke them behind the backs of authority. For example you see that marijuana is illegal but we see day to day that people get caught with that substance. So who says that won't happen with cigarettes? If the people smoking want to harm their bodies like that and know the consequences then let them get what they paid for. They know the risks and outcomes to smoking.

  7. In my opinion i believe that cigarettes should be banned. The reason i believe this is because cigarettes are extremely dangerous and have terrible things inside of it as in of tar and etc. If the cigarettes were banned maybe people could possibly live longer have less cancer risk an we probably will have a less amount of smokers in this world . We could also lower the danger risk for infants that are around (cigarette smokers) as in a grandparent or mother or whoever that smokes with kids not knowing about 2nd hand smoke. If cigarettes are banned it lets people explore new things (trippy) and smoke e-cigarettes or hookahs or whatever that are less dangerous.

  8. I believe this queston is hard because I am on both sides. I say yes it should be banned because it not only affects the users but it also affects the people around them. It has been proved that 2nd hand smoking is worst than actually smoking the drug in. Then I say no because it's their bodies, and it's not like they dont know the risk factors because there phamplets and classes everywhere, so if they want to kill their bodies then we should let them do that.

  9. Cigarets are are the things can make your life durable, which build your body health into a weaker one. Cigarets should be banned because its a substance that has a drug in them that could make yourself addicted to it. Lungs and your health are important things that you will need to live trough out the good and long years. Kids have been smoking cigarets in age 10 which gives a good reason to be banned in the united states.

  10. Cigarettes should be banned. With cigarettes the only thing that comes is a lot of health risks such as lung diseases, that includes emphysema , chronic bronchitis , and lung cancers. Cigarettes contain chemicals and things that harm your body. Why should there be something out there that can harm or kill us? The sell of cigarettes has cause 6 million people to die every year and that number will only increase not decrease. No do only does the use and buying the product of cigarettes are killing people everyday but the use of cigarettes also show results in finical loses from diminished labor. Meaning its making the poor even poorer. Cigarettes have and are causing a lot of problems around the world weather it has to do with your health or weather its the fact the your have or are becoming poorer because you are having finical loses this needs to stop. Cigarettes should be banded

  11. I don't think that cigarettes should be banned because they are sold to people who are 18 and older. This age is old enough for a person to make their own decisions and know what the consequences of using cigarettes are. There are multiple adds on T.V. that warn you on the effects of cigarettes and the risks of smoking them. I do however agree with the age restrictions on cigarettes and I'm glad that there are restrictions. This way younger kids, who might not understand what cigarettes are, or what they can do, are not allowed to buy them. E-Cigarettes can be just as bad as smoking if you get addicted to them, because overall you will get a bad habit.

  12. I think that cigarettes should be banned and never existed. The reason is because cigarettes are bad for you and they can cause many problems. For example it can cause heart/lung problems because the tar for the cigarettes it builds up on your lungs, which can cause death. If people want to smoke cigarettes thats them and their decision but I think they shouldn't smoke.

  14. I do think smoking should be banned. It is very harmful to not only the smoker but the people around them. Smoking messes up you lungs and makes it harder to breathe. Second hand smoke is just as dangerous. There will be people that will find ways to smoke illegally, but the number of smokers would go down. There always alternatives to normal cigarettes like electronic cigarettes which doesn't cause as much harm as a normal one.

  15. No i don't think they should be banned. First they would never pass the law to ban them for multiple reasons. Before anybody smokes a cigarette they know the health issues that come along with them. With how much we are educated on the health risks people still choose to smoke and if they get health issues so be it. The things we need to fix is helping the people who want to quit but are having a hard time and ban smoking in public places to lower second hand smoke.

  16. I think Cigarettes should be banned the reason is because they cause many problems that the person has to deal with for the rest of there life they don't even have to smoke they can be around a smoker for a long time and end up having cancer if there with the person that is smoking for along time cigarettes are just big problems and i think they should banned them now e-cigs probably not because there not as bad as real cigarettes.

  17. I think that cigarettes shouldn't be banned because it would cause a huge riot over something so small. Its their choices to take the risks of damaging their body. Not only that, people smoke cigarettes to relieve stress, if you take that away from them then they may start doing self harm which could lead to suicide. As bad as cigarettes are taking them away isn't going to help things. If you ban them they'll start selling them illegally, there will always be a way to get cigarettes. I know first hand from experience what cigarettes can do to you. My grandma was diagnosed with lung cancer and she fought it for 7 years, and the whole time she kept smoking. Its not your job to tell people what could happen to them. They're taking the risk, and it has nothing to do with you.
